Broncos Claim All Three Championships at City of Trees Classic

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State not only won all three divisions of the City of Trees Classic, but didn't lose a single bracket play match to another school on Sunday.

The Broncos finished 12-0 against pairs from Oregon and Utah on Sunday, setting up an all-Bronco championship in all three divisions.

In a back-and-forth battle, Marlayna Bullington and Sierra Land defeated Emilia Guerra-Acuña and Ava Anderson 32-30 for the Gold Division crown. Nora Hayd and Kaylee Mejia took down Mya Jackson and Addison Wolden in a thrilling 21-12, 15-21, 15-12 match in the Silver Division Championship.

After an intense first set, Summer McCann and Elli Wolthuis cruised to a victory in the Bronze Division final, defeating Makayla Dimond and Abbie Wolf 29-27, 21-10.

As a team, Boise State finished the two-day event with a total record of 23-5 against pairs from the two opposing schools.

Notables

The Broncos finished the two-day event 11-5 in pool play and 12-0 in elimination matches against opponents from Oregon and Utah. Seven matches consisted of two Bronco pairs facing off against each other.
After wrapping up its second annual City of Trees Classic, Boise State has a total fall record of 38-11 against opponents from other schools at the Boise State Beach Volleyball Complex.
Emilia Guerra-Acuña has played in championship matches in both seasons at the Broncos' home fall tournament. The junior won the Silver Division Championship with Joey Benson in 2022 and played in the Gold Division final with Ava Anderson on Sunday.
