Broncos Fall to Aggies in Semifinal Match

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Boise State soccer was dealt a 1-0 loss in its semifinal match at the Mountain West Championship against Utah State on Wednesday afternoon, marking the end of the 2023 season for the Broncos.
Both teams put up strong defensive efforts in the first half, with Boise State (11-4-6, 8-2-1 MW) denying Utah State (13-7-1, 9-2 MW) on its seven shots, including two saves, while the Aggies held the Broncos to only one shot.
The Broncos' offense became more aggressive in the second half, taking five shots, with Kenzie MacMillan placing two on goal, and earning four corners. As time wore on, the match began to open up as both teams exchanged runs and stops. Multiple chances came for the Aggies and Broncos to decide the match, but the score remained deadlocked, forcing the contest into overtime.
The match was decided when Utah State converted a free kick that sailed over the wall and into the net, early in the first overtime period. Boise State had an opportunity to tie the match in the second overtime on a penalty, but the Aggie keeper stopped the attempt by MacMillan to advance Utah State to the championship match.

- Crenshaw recorded five shutouts this season, tying for fifth-most in program history. She now holds the program record for most shutouts in a career with 20.
- After finishing the season with 11 wins, Thomas has now won 114 matches, the most by a Boise State soccer head coach.
- Conner, Carly Cross, Morgan Padour, MacMillan and Jocelyn Stephens earned all-conference honors for their performances in 2023. MacMillan and Stephens were named to the All-MW First Team, while Cross and Padour received All-MW Second Team honors. Conner represented the Blue and Orange on the MW All-Newcomer Team.
- Boise State set a program record for average home attendance at 1,083 during the 2023 season. The Broncos also led the conference in home attendance average, marking the highest average by a MW school since 2015.
