Broncos Drop Contest to Cougars

PROVO, Utah – Boise State women's basketball fell to BYU, 65-50, Saturday, in the Marriott Center.
 
The two teams battled early, exchanging three lead changes throughout the first quarter. With the Broncos (7-3) trailing by three, Mya Hansen hit a 3-pointer with 1:29 remaining in the quarter to tie the game at 11. Both teams scored on its remaining possessions as the Cougars (8-2) took a 15-13 lead into the second period.
 
BYU opened the second frame with a 12-3 run, extending its lead to 11 with 6:54 remaining in the half. Linsey Lovrovich provided a nice spark off the bench, scoring four-straight points to cut the lead to seven. Abby Muse also had a dominant second quarter, scoring seven points in the period but the Cougars hit a pair of 3-pointers to end the half to take a 37-26 lead into the locker room.
 
The Broncos opened the second half with another Hansen-triple, followed by a corner jump shot from Natalie Pasco to cut the deficit to seven. BYU responded with a 10-2 run to extend its lead to 15 and led 53-37 entering the final frame. 
 
Muse and Pasco each scored four points in the fourth period, but the Broncos couldn't put a dent in the score as the Cougars solidified the victory.
