Menegatti Wins Gold at Mountain West Indoor Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Senior MaLeigha Menegatti highlighted the Broncos' action-packed weekend at the 2023 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., Feb. 23-25, capturing gold in the women's 800-meter run.
 
With her time of 2:03.83, Menegatti bested Nevada's Halyn Senegal by nearly six seconds.
 
Menegatti's gold-medal performance broke a 13-year-old MW Indoor Championships record, conference record, and school record.
 
The Blue and Orange collected three medals (two silver and one bronze) in addition to Menegatti's gold this weekend.
 
On Thursday, the women's distance medley relay team garnered the Broncos' first podium finish of the weekend, capturing the silver medal.
 
The quartet of Delaney Griffin, Rebecca Vander Poel, MaLeigha Menegatti, and Kaiya Robertson posted a time of 11:32.08.
 
Sophomore Anita Taviore picked up a silver medal in the women's 60m dash, breaking her own school record with a mark of 7.37.
 
On the men's side, sophomore Ahmed Ibrahim took bronze in the men's 3,000m, posting a time of 8:13.29.
 
As a team, the Bronco women, and men both finished seventh overall, with 37 and 28 points, respectively.
