Broncos Pick Up Four Wins in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Boise State went undefeated at the San Jose State Tournament this weekend, winning all four duals to improve to 13-4 on the season. 
 
The Broncos (13-4, 4-2 SLC) grabbed a 2-0 lead over CSU Bakersfield in the first dual of the weekend, with the No. 4 pair, Joey Benson and Emilia Guerra-Acuña, and No. 5 pair, Aris Vetter and Elli Wolthuis, picking up wins for the squad. After dropping matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, Sierra Land and Madison Nichols won the deciding match for the Broncos in three sets, 25-23, 16-21, 15-11, to seal the team's second victory of the season over the Roadrunners.
 
Boise State cruised to a victory over Oregon in its second dual on the weekend, winning 4-1 to also defeat the Ducks for the second time on the season. The team continued its hot streak on the second day, picking up back-to-back sweeps against San Francisco and Southland-foe San Jose State to complete the undefeated weekend.

- Boise State picked up a weekend sweep for the fifth time in program history.
- Between all four duals, the Broncos finished the weekend with a match record of 17-3.
- Boise State has reached 13 wins in a season for the third time in program history.
- Head coach Allison Voigt surpassed 50 career wins on the weekend. She finished the tournament with an all-time record of 53-33.

What's Next

Boise State will have a quick turnaround, having only two days rest before getting into action again. The Broncos will compete against Colorado Mesa and Long Beach State, Tuesday, in Long Beach, Calif. before taking on Concordia Irvine and Irvine Valley, Wednesday, in Irvine, Calif.
