LONG BEACH, Calif. – Boise State finished 1-1 in its midweek competition in Long Beach, Calif., Tuesday. The Broncos (14-5, 4-2 SLC) defeated Colorado Mesa, 3-2, before dropping to No. 12 Long Beach State, 5-0.

The Sandy Broncos took a quick 2-0 lead over the Mavericks in the first dual of the day, with Ava Anderson and Rorianna Chartier winning at the No. 2 spot, 21-19, 21-15, and Kaylee Mejia and Elli Wolthuis taking care of business at the No. 4 position, 21-8, 21-9. Colorado Mesa won at the No. 1 and No. 5 positions to even the score, putting the pressure on Emilia Guerra-Acuña and Lily Patock. The tandem won a thrilling three-set match, winning 19-21, 21-15, 17-15, to give the Broncos a 3-2 win.

The squad got behind early against No. 12 Long Beach State, losing the first four matches of the dual. Anderson and Chartier battled in a three-set match on the No. 2 court, but ultimately fell, 21-10, 17-21, 23-21.
