LONG BEACH, Calif. – Boise State finished 1-1 in its midweek competition in Long Beach, Calif., Tuesday. The Broncos (14-5, 4-2 SLC) defeated Colorado Mesa, 3-2, before dropping to No. 12 Long Beach State, 5-0.

The Sandy Broncos took a quick 2-0 lead over the Mavericks in the first dual of the day, with Ava Anderson and Rorianna Chartier winning at the No. 2 spot, 21-19, 21-15, and Kaylee Mejia and Elli Wolthuis taking care of business at the No. 4 position, 21-8, 21-9. Colorado Mesa won at the No. 1 and No. 5 positions to even the score, putting the pressure on Emilia Guerra-Acuña and Lily Patock. The tandem won a thrilling three-set match, winning 19-21, 21-15, 17-15, to give the Broncos a 3-2 win.

The squad got behind early against No. 12 Long Beach State, losing the first four matches of the dual. Anderson and Chartier battled in a three-set match on the No. 2 court, but ultimately fell, 21-10, 17-21, 23-21.

Notables

- Boise State picked up its 14th win of the season on the day, marking the second-most wins in a season in program history. The team recorded a program-record 20 wins a year ago.
- The Broncos defeated Colorado Mesa for the second time on the season to remain undefeated all-time against the Mavericks (5-0).
- Rorianna Chartier, Kaylee Mejia and Lily Patock picked up their 10th win of the season on the day. Six Broncos have now reached 10 wins on the season, with Ava Anderson (11), Emilia Guerra-Acuña (11) and Joey Benson (10) reaching the mark over the weekend.

What's Next

Boise State's duals against Concordia Irvine and Irvine Valley that were originally scheduled for Wednesday have been canceled. The Broncos will return to action next weekend at the Boise State Beach Classic.
