Broncos Split a Pair of Games in the Grand Canyon State

TEMPE, Ariz. - Boise State softball split two games to open the Sun Devil Classic, hosted by Arizona State, Saturday.
 
The Broncos (8-10) won 5-2 against Houston (10-10), before losing to No. 23 Arizona State 8-0.
 
In the first game of the day, the Cougars (10-10) were the first to get on the board with a run in the bottom of the first. 
 
The Broncos responded with a home run from Brooklynn Pettis in the next inning, tying the score 1-1.
 
The Blue and Orange recorded a total of four runs in the fifth and seventh innings, with Taylor Caudill (2-5) collecting the win in the circle.
 
In the night game, Arizona State's Mac Osborne (3-2) held the Broncos to a one-hit mercy-rule victory. Lindsey Walljasper (4-3) took the loss in the circle.
