BOISE, Idaho - Boise State's Eliyah Flores and Serena Huchingson each homered, but the Broncos lost 5-3 to San Diego State in the opener of the a three-game Mountain West softball series, Friday.

Flores tied the game 2-2 with a two-run blast in the bottom of the second, her 10th of the season. After the Aztecs (31-12, 15-5 MW) took a 4-2 lead, Huchingson got the Broncos (28-13, 13-3) within 4-3 with a solo shot in the bottom of the third.

Dee Hernandez (7-2) and Allie Light combined to keep Boise State off the board for the final four innings with Light earning her seventh save.

Taylor Caudill (12-8) went the distance for the Broncos, striking out five.

"I'm proud of our team and I have been for the last two months," Boise State head coach Justin Shults said. "We have to get off to a better start and control our emotions better, but I thought we did a good job in the middle of the game."
