Bronco Men, Potter Finish First at Season Opener

SAN FRANCISCO - Boise State cross country opened the season with a statement, being led by junior Ned Potter who took first in the men's 8-kilometer race at the USF Cross Country Invitational. Potter's victory led the Bronco men to finish first in the race ahead of nationally-ranked Stanford. 

Potter traversed the course in 24:09.1 for his first victory. He was followed by Tom Patrick, Joe Hudson, Josh Dickinson and Alex Durant as the men's team placed five in the top 10 and earned the title at the meet with 21 points, just six shy of a perfect score of 15. The Broncos finished ahead of Cal and USF in second and third, respectively. 

In the women's 6-kilometer race, the Broncos placed second with four top-10 finishers. Autumn Ost led the squad placing third (20:43.6) and then was followed by Kaiya Robertson in fifth. Freshman Julia Kiesler placed ninth, just ahead of Samatha Wood in 10th. 

Boise State finished second with 49 points to 8th-ranked Stanford on the women's side.
