Broncos Set for Home Clash with UNLV

WHAT'S NEXT

Boise State will take on UNLV on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. MT in ExtraMile Arena. The Broncos (13-6, 4-2 Mountain West) are tied for third in the league, while the Lady Rebels (15-2, 5-1 MW) are tied for first. 

THE OPPONENT

UNLV, the three-time MW Regular Season Champions and two-time tournament champion, is receiving votes in both the AP and Coaches Poll. The Rebels rattled off five-straight wins to begin conference play, but is coming off their first conference loss in two seasons with a 69-66 home defeat to New Mexico. 

TALE OF TWO TEAMS

Wednesday's matchup will be a battle of strengths. The Broncos are the top defensive team in the MW, allowing 55.8 points per game on 35.5% shooting. UNLV is the top scoring team in the conference, averaging 80.9 points per game.  

FRONTCOURT BATTLE

The contest also features two strong frontcourts. UNLV is led by center Desi-Rae Young, who is averaging 19.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game on 56.4% shooting from the floor. The senior will go against Abby Muse, who is second nationally in blocks per game (3.3) and total blocks (63). 

LAST TIME OUT

After leading 13-9 at the end of the first quarter, the Broncos rattled off 26-straight points en route to a 76-41 win over Utah State. Three Broncos scored in double figures, led by 16 points from Dani Bayes. Abby Muse matched her season-high with 15 points while Tatum Thompson added 12 off the bench. 

WIN STREAK

After starting off 0-2 in conference play, Boise State comes into Wednesday's bout with four-straight victories. Three players are scoring in double figures during the span – Dani Bayes (12.8 ppg), Natalie Pasco (11.8) and Mya Hansen (10.3) – while the team is averaging 69.0 points per contest. 

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE

The Broncos are 12-3 in their last 15 games at ExtraMile Arena, including a 10-1 mark this season. Boise State is averaging 70.4 points per game on its home court this season, while shooting 42.6% from the field and 38.7% from beyond the arc.
