COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State's Kiki Remensperger has been named the Mountain West Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week for matches played Oct. 22-26. This marks the fourth time that she has been named the Freshman of the Week and the first as Defensive Player of the Week.
Remensperger played a big role in Boise State's two victories over San Diego State (3-2) in Boise and at UNLV (3-1) last week by recording a double-double versus SDSU and her second career triple-double in the win at UNLV.
On the week, she hit .326 percent for a combined 19 kills with 41 assists, two service aces, 35 digs, six blocks, and 24 points. The freshman setter/outside hitter averaged 2.11 kills, 4.56 assists, 0.22 aces, 3.89 digs, 0.67 blocks and 2.67 points per set.
In the five-set win over San Diego State, Remensperger recorded a double-double on a team-high (tied) 27 assists and 21 digs while hitting .286 percent for eight kills with two service aces, two block assists and 11 points.
Her rare 20/20 double-double versus the Aztecs marked the second time this year she has accomplished that feat; it is also only the third time at Boise State that a Bronco has had 20-plus assists and digs in a match during the Rally Scoring Era (since 2001).
In the win at UNLV, she recorded her second triple-double of the year on 11 kills, 14 assists and 14 digs. It is only the fifth triple-double at Boise State during the Rally Scoring Era; she is tied for the most with two. She also had four block assists and 13 points against the Rebels.
Remensperger and the Broncos will be back in action this week when they travel to Utah State on Thursday and Nevada on Saturday. Both contests will be live streamed on the MW Network.
