
Broncos Outlast San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO – Boise State pulled out a thrilling 59-57 victory over San Francisco, Thursday. The win gives the Broncos their ninth 5-0 start to a season in program history and the fifth under head coach Gordy Presnell.
Leading 57-55 with under a minute remaining, Dani Bayes made a floater to put the Broncos (5-0) up four. San Francisco's Debora dos Santos drew a foul on the other end, making 1-of-2 free throw attempts to pull the Dons (2-3) within one possession.
After a Bronco turnover on the offensive end, the Dons again went to the free throw line down three with nine seconds left. Lorena Barbosa made her first attempt but missed her second, with San Francisco gathering the offensive rebound in the scrum for the rebound. The Dons were unable to get a shot off, allowing Boise State to pull off the victory.
Tatum Thompson scored a team-high 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the win. Mary Kay Naro added 11 points and six rebounds, while Bayes netted 10 points.
The Dons led for a large majority of the first half, jumping out to a quick 7-2 lead. Elodie Lalotte scored back-to-back baskets to cut the lead to one, but San Francisco responded with an 8-0 run and took a 15-10 lead into the second quarter.
With just under three minutes remaining in the half, Naro drilled a 3-pointer to give Boise State its first lead of the game, 25-23. The two teams exchanged leads three times over the remainder of the quarter, with San Francisco converting a layup with nine seconds left to take a 30-29 advantage into the locker room.
Boise State opened the second half with a 6-0 spurt, but San Francisco managed to cut the advantage to one midway through the third frame. Boise State stretched its lead back to five, but the Dons made two baskets at the end of the third quarter to trail 45-44 entering the final quarter.
After San Francisco briefly took a lead, Boise State went on a 7-0 run, including Naro's third 3-pointer of the evening. The Dons wouldn't back down, cutting the Bronco lead down to one with 3:03. Bayes made the only field goal from that point on as Boise State claimed the victory.

- Tatum Thompson recorded team-highs in both points (12) and rebounds (8). The junior added two blocks and two steals in the victory.
- Mary Kay Naro was a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, finishing with 11 points. She added six rebounds and a pair of steals.
