Dutta and Safarova Fall in Quarterfinals at ITA Conference Masters

ROME, Ga. – After winning their first two matches, freshman Maya Dutta and sophomore Zdena Safarova's run came to an end in the quarterfinals where they fell to Appalachian State's Savannah Dada-Mascoll and Isabella Romanichens, Friday evening.
The Boise State pair started the tournament hot, cruising into the round of 16 with a win over Laia Giralt and Manuela Gomes of Siena College, 6-0, 6-1. Dutta and Safarova then squared off with Florida State's No. 34 ranked duo of Millie Bissett and Maria Juliana Parra Romero where they continued to roll, securing a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory to advance to the quarterfinals.
The tandem faced Appalachian State's Dada-Mascoll and Romanichen in their quarterfinal contest, falling in a hard-fought match that ended in a 6-3, 0-6, 10-6 tiebreak. With the loss, Dutta and Safarova wrap up their debut fall season together with an impressive 9-4 record.

The Broncos will be represented by Zdena Safarova in the first edition of the NCAA Individual Championships Nov. 19-24, in Waco, Texas.
