Boise State Falls Twice in Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Boise State men's tennis wrapped up the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on Saturday with a pair of 4-2 defeats to No. 26 Middle Tennessee and No. 47 Old Dominion.
Middle Tennessee took the early lead on the Broncos by claiming the doubles point 2-0 with wins on courts one and two.
Boise State's Jan Lucca Marquardt pulled the Broncos even with a straight set 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles.
Then, after the Blue Raiders regained an advantage up 2-1, Idriss Haddouch earned a hard-fought three-set victory on court six, 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-3 to even the team score at two apiece.
Middle Tennessee clinched the win 4-2 with three-set victories at No. 5 and 2 singles, respectively. Â
The nightcap ended after 11 p.m. (Central) and began with Old Dominion edging the Broncos 2-1 for the doubles point. However, Sam Sippel and Jip van Assendelft recorded a big win, defeating ODU's 16th-ranked doubles team of Codie and Connor van Schalkwyk by a 6-4 score.
Boise State recorded two singles victories on courts five and six during the match. Â Jett Middleton defeated Aryan Saleh in two sets, 6-3, 6-3. For the second time on the day, Haddouch rallied from a set down to win in three sets, this time against ODU's Jakob Cadonau, 5-7, 6-2, 7-6.

- Van Assendelft's doubles win with Sippel, marked the second top-20 victory for the sophomore this weekend…on Friday, he also defeated Michigan State's Ozan Baris, the fourth-ranked singles player nationally.
- Middleton recorded his team-high 14th singles victory of the season. Â
