STANFORD, Calif. – NiJaree Canady struck out 16 in a three-hit shutout as No. 7 Stanford defeated visiting Boise State 7-0 at the DeMarini Invitational, Thursday.
 
Stanford (11-4) scored three times in the first against Boise State (11-6) starter Taylor Caudill (6-4) and two runs in both the fourth and fifth against the bullpen.
 
"I think this team is better than we showed today," Shults said. "We did not pitch well enough and gave them four extra outs. You cannot do that when you are facing an All-American.
 
The game started after a 56-minute rain delay.

What's Next
