
Boise State Takes Two Away from Home

OREM, Utah – Boise State's offense amassed 27 hits and the Broncos recorded a pair of victories in the Beehive State, Friday.

Boise State (13-10) defeated Utah Valley (6-10) 18-1 in five innings and outlasted Weber State (9-13) 12-7 in the second game of the day.

"We started fast and played really well early," head coach Justin Shults said. "We took a good punch in the second game, but I am proud of the way we responded. Our hitters were very patient and took advantage of mistakes."

In the opener, Sydney Groves homered twice and drove in four. Jordyn Hutchins knocked in three with a triple and Brooklynn Pettis ripped a three-run double.

The Broncos scored eight in the second inning, five in the third, one in the fourth and four times in the fifth.

Against Weber State, Boise State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on RBI-singles by Alycia Flores and Hutchins.

The Wildcats responded with three runs in the second and one in the fourth to gain a 4-2 advantage.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Broncos scored six times to go on top for good. Pettis led off with a line drive homer to right. Two walks and a hit loaded the bases with one out before Flores tied the game with a sacrifice fly.

Groves walked to load the bases and Hutchins drilled a three-run double that put the Broncos on top 7-4. Three batters later, Abby Bumcrot capped the rally with a run-scoring single.

Both teams scored in the fifth and Weber State tallied two in the top of the sixth to pull within 9-7. Once again, Boise State had an answer as the Broncos scored three times in the bottom of the frame to put the game away. Mykenzie Hanna contributed an RBI-double and Flores added an RBI-single during the rally.
