Broncos Drop Series Opener to Bulldogs

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State lost the series opener to Fresno State 3-2 in Mountain West softball, Friday.

Mykenzie Hanna staked the Broncos (25-18, 5-6 MW) to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with her 14th home run of the season.
Â
In the fourth, freshman centerfielder Sophia Knight stole an extra-base hit with a diving catch in the gap on a sacrifice fly that cut the lead to 2-1. The next batter singled and Knight threw a seed to the plate that cut down a runner and preserved the lead.

The Bulldogs pushed across a run to tie the game in the fifth and scored the winning run in the sixth.

"We have been in a lot of close games this season and have to find a way to make one or two more plays to come out on the winning side," head coach Justin Shults said.
