Broncos Take Series in Reno

RENO, Nev. – Four Broncos drove in two runs and Boise State beat Nevada 8-3 in the rubber matchup of a three-game Mountain West softball series, Sunday.

"It was a great team win today," head coach Justin Shults said. "We got production up and down the lineup and Jenna Bloom was outstanding in the circle."

Mykenzie Hanna staked the Broncos (28-20, 8-8 MW) to a 2-0 lead with a two-run home run in the first.

The Wolf Pack (36-13, 12-7) answered with one in the first off Bloom (7-3) and took a 3-2 lead with a two-run third against reliever Abby Dowell.

Bloom reentered in the fourth and blanked Nevada the rest of the way while Boise State's offense rallied for the win.

In the fifth, Sophia Knight singled with one out and moved to third on a two-out single by Leah McAnally. Alycia Flores followed with a two-run double to the gap in right-center that gave the Broncos a 4-3 lead.

Boise State put the game out of reach with a four-run seventh. The Broncos loaded the bases with two outs before Jordyn Hutchins and Sydney Groves delivered back-to-back, two-run singles to account for the winning margin.
