LAS VEGAS – Boise State men's tennis defeated San Diego State 4-1 Friday night in Las Vegas to win back-to-back Mountain West Tournament championships. The Broncos have now won six MW tournaments since joining the league for the 2012 campaign and 18 conference tournament titles all-time.

Boise State won the doubles point 2-0 to take an early lead in the match. Sam Sippel and Jan Lucca Marquardt recorded the first win on court one by a 6-3 score. Caden Moortgat and Jett Middleton were not far behind, also winning their contest by a 6-3 score to clinch the team point.

Boise State slowly pulled away after the teams split the six opening sets in singles. James Van Herzeele started the ball rolling with a dominating straight-set 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles to put the Blue and Orange up 2-0.

After San Diego State cut its deficit to 2-1, Boise State closed it out quickly with two victories just minutes apart. Sippel spotted Boise State a 3-1 advantage when he won a hard-fought match on court one with a second set tiebreaker, 6-4, 7-6(3).

Marquardt closed it out with a tightly contested match at No. 4 singles, where he defeated SDSU's Chikaya Sato 7-6(5), 7-5 to hand Boise State the victory and championship.
