BOISE, Idaho – Boise State lost 4-3 to New Mexico in Mountain West softball, Saturday.

The Broncos (29-21, 9-9 MW) never led and made three errors. New Mexico (14-36, 6-12 MW) kept its slim hopes of making the MW Championship alive and prevented Boise State from clinching a spot.

The Lobos scored in each of the first-two innings before the Broncos tied the game in the bottom of the second on RBI-singles Hollie Farmer and Abby Bumcrot.

New Mexico scratched out two runs, one unearned, in the fifth off Boise State reliever Jenna Bloom (8-4) to take a 4-2 lead.

In the home half of the fifth, the Broncos loaded the bases with one out. Karizma Bergesen reached on an RBI-fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 4-3, but Abby Bumcrot, Boise State's leading hitter in MW play, popped up to end the inning.
