Five Earn Gold on the Weekend for Boise State Track and Field

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State track and field notched five gold-medal finishes to highlight a split-meet weekend in California.

At the Steve Scott Invitational, the Broncos racked up four first-place finishes from Hanna Ackermann, Austen Apperson, Janiah Brown and Ollie Newman.

Ackermann won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:28.18, while Apperson ran a personal-best in the men's 3,000m steeplechase in 8:53.47.

Brown had a time of 2:08.69 in the women's invitational 800-meter and Newman ran the men's invitational mile in a career-best time of 4:02.43.

At the Fresno State Invitational, Gabriella Chiara ran a career-best time of 2:10.79 in the women's 800-meter to take home gold.

Notables

The Broncos established 22-career bests on the weekend.
Boise State registered nine top-five finishes.

Hanna Ackermann took first place in the women's 3,000m steeplechase at the Steve Scott Invitational, marking the second meet in a row that she has done so.
Austen Apperson placed first in the men's 3,000m steeplechase at the Steve Scott Invitational.
Janiah Brown took first in the women's invitational 800m at the Steve Scott Invitational.
Gabriella Chiara placed first in the women's 800m at the Fresno State Invitational.
Emily Jobes had silver-medal finish in her career-debut of the women's invitational 5000m at the Steve Scott Invitational.
Ollie Newman had a first-place finish in the men's invitational mile at the Steve Scott Invitational. He was followed by Tom Graham-Marr in second.
Ruby Sereday took third place in the women's javelin throw at the Fresno State Invitational.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team, composed of Khadijat Tajudeen, Anita Taviore, Isabella Ales and Alyssa Cullen, finished third at the Fresno State Invitational.
