Boise State Falls at SFA

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Boise State volleyball opened the SFA Invitational, falling 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-21) to the host Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks in the tournament opener.
 
The Broncos struggled with their passing most of the match, preventing them from getting into their offensive system. On the day, Boise State was outhit .327 percent to .159.
 
The Ladyjacks hit over .400 percent in the first two sets and led most of the way as the Broncos played from behind.
 
Boise State led early in the third set before SFA rallied from four down to take the lead at 17-16. The Blue and Orange attempted to rally but came up short down the stretch.

TOP BRONCOS

  • Paige Bartsch led the team, hitting .273 for 15 kills with two service aces, seven digs, one block and 17.5 points.
  • Kiki Remensperger recorded her fourth double-double of the season on 14 assists and 10 digs; she also hit .300 percent with four kills.

NOTABLES

  • Paige Bartsch moved into seventh place on the Broncos' career kills list with 1,223, passing Becky Meek (1996-99), who had 1,209.
  • Bartsch's two service aces put her at 111 in her career, four short of tying for 14th all-time in program history; she is currently third during the rally-scoring era (since 2001) and six short of second.
  • Boise State is now 0-2 all-time versus the Ladyjacks.
  • SFA stretched the nation's longest home win streak to 30.

Boise State will face the McNeese Cowgirls at 6 p.m. MT on Friday in Nacogdoches, Texas, on the second day of the SFA Invitational.
