Kaminski and Kotzakov lead Boise State Past Montana for Fourth Sweep

MISSOULA, Mont. – Annie Kaminski and Anabel Kotzakov combined for 32 points to lead Boise State volleyball past the Montana Grizzlies with a sweep on Sunday on the final day of the Elleysn Invitational in Missoula, Montana.
 
With the win over Montana, the Broncos' fourth sweep of the season improved their overall record to 4-2.
 
Boise State used a 5-0 run in set one to break a 9-9 tie and take control. The Broncos hit .324 in the first and led by as many as six. They never trailed in the set and won the period 25-19.
 
Set two saw the Broncos open with a 7-1 run and led by as many as 10 at 20-10, only to see Montana attempt to rally down the stretch. The Blue and Orange held off an 8-1 run to take the set by six at 25-19.
 
The Blue and Orange also dominated the third set, leading by 10 points late.  But the Grizzlies would not go away, closing to within three at 23-20 before the Broncos regrouped to put it away 25-21 to clinch the match.

TOP BRONCOS

  • Annie Kaminski hit a season-high .650 with a team (tied) and season-high 14 kills to go with a team and season-tying-high five blocks to finish with a team-best 16.5 points.
  • Anabel Kotzakov matched Kaminski for the high in kills, tying her career mark against the Grizzlies with 14. She hit .344, had three blocks and tallied 15.5 points.
  • Lilli Etter had four kills, season-highs for assists with 17 and blocks with three, to go with six digs.
  • Breanna Mitchell had a team-high 10 digs.

NOTABLES

  • Annie Kaminski's hitting percentage was a team-best for the season for individuals with 10 or more attacks.
  • Kaminski recorded five blocks, giving her four-consecutive contests with four or more blocks and a team-high total of 22.
  • Anabel Kotzakov's 14 kills tied her career-high, a total she has hit four times, including against Arizona in the season opener.
  • Kiki Remensperger had a career-high and team-best 19 assists against Montana.
  • All four of Boise State's wins have been sweeps.
