Broncos Sweep Home Doubleheader Over Idaho State and EWU

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's tennis opened the home slate with a pair of dominating performances to sweep Idaho State 4-0 and Eastern Washington 7-0 at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center on Friday.

Boise State opened the afternoon with an impressive performance over instate-rival Idaho State, defeating the Bengals 4-0.

Doubles went to the final match with the Blue and Orange taking the team point 2-1. Boise State recorded victories by Carson Baker and Jett Middleton, 6-4, on court one, while Taiyo Kurata and Dylan Jaen clinched the team doubles point with a 7-5 win at the third position.

The Broncos put it away with three straight singles victories. Idriss Haddouch was the first off taking No. 5 singles, followed by Jaen on court six and Baker on court two, all in straight sets.

Eastern Washington Recap

Boise State controlled the second match versus EWU from the start, taking the doubles point 2-0. Kurata and Jaen won on court three 6-0, followed by Haddouch and James Van Herzeele, 6-3, on court two to clinch the team point.

Boise State swept all six singles contests, starting with a quick 6-0, 6-0 victory by Jaen at No. 6, followed shortly after by Kurata with a 6-0, 6-2 victory on court four. The match clincher came from Van Herzeele at No. three singles, where he won 6-2, 6-1.

Jett Middleton went undefeated on the day with a pair of wins at No. 1 singles and a win at No. 1 doubles with Carson Baker.
Carson Baker also went 3-0 on the day winning both his No. 2 singles contests and the No. 1 doubles with Middleton on court one. His singles victory versus Idaho State clinched the match.
Dylan Jaen and Taiyo Kurata went 2-0 at No. 3 doubles; Jaen also went 2-0 at No. 6 singles.
Idriss Haddouch and James Van Herzeele went 2-0 at No. 2 doubles; Haddouch went 2-0 on court five in singles.

Notables

Boise State did not surrender a point on the day winning by a combined 11-0.
The Broncos won 26 sets and lost only two on the day.
