Broncos Turn to Road Tilt at Utah State

1/7/2025 10:15:00 AM | Women's Basketball

WHAT'S NEXT: Boise State women's basketball will hit the road to take on Utah State on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The contest will tip off at 6 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network and 670 KBOI AM.

LAST TIME OUT: The Broncos (11-5, 1-2 MW) were narrowly defeated by the three-time defending conference champion, UNLV, at ExtraMile Arena on Saturday. Boise State held on to a one-point lead with 1:44 remaining, but the Lady Rebels responded on their next two offensive possessions to pull through 61-57. Mya Hansen recorded her second 15+ point performance in her last three games, totaling 17 points on a 7-of-13 shooting performance from the floor, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range.

SCOUTING REPORT: The Aggies (1-13, 0-2 MW), enter the contest on an 11-game losing streak, having last won on Nov. 14 against Cal State Bakersfield. Returning all-conference guard Cheyenne Stubbs paces Utah State, averaging 13.6 points per game.

OWNING THE AGGIES: Boise State has won six consecutive matchups against Utah State, having last lost to the Aggies on Feb. 12, 2022. The two teams most recently met in the opening round of the 2024 MW Tournament, with the Blue and Orange racing past Utah State 85-49. Abby Muse recorded the program's third triple-double in the contest, recording 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, while head coach Gordy Presnell picked up his 750th career win with the victory.

RECORD SETTER: Muse became the program's all-time leading rebounder against UNLV on Saturday. The Brentwood, Calif., native corralled six rebounds in the contest to finish with 1,030 career boards, breaking a 43-year-old record set by Karla Meier (1977-82). Already the program's leading shot blocker, Muse needs just two additional blocks to become the third player in MW history to block 300 career shots.

IT TAKES A TEAM: Boise State averages 32.9 points a game from its reserves, the ninth-highest total in the nation. The Broncos have scored 20+ bench points in all but one game, have scored 30+ points from their reserves in 10 games, and have totaled 40+ bench points in five contests. Additionally, seven different Broncos have scored 15+ points at least once for the squad.
