Broncos Defeat Vandals in Exhibition Contest

BOISE, Idaho — Boise State men's basketball was victorious in its exhibition game, defeating Idaho, 89-83, on Friday night inside Idaho Central Arena.

Three Broncos scored in double figures led by Drew Fielder, who scored a game high 24 points. He shot 7-for-11 from the field and made a trio of three-pointers in 23 minutes of game action.

Andrew Meadow tallied 14 points and four rebounds, while Javan Buchanan registered 13 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Aginaldo Neto added nine points and Pearson Carmichael pitched in with eight off the bench.

Idaho had four players who tallied 10 or more points, with Kolton Mitchell registering a team-high 18 points in 31 minutes. Biko Johnson made four field goals and collected 13 points, while Brody Rowbury and Jack Payne each had 10 apiece.

Shooting a blistering 48 percent in the first half, the Broncos shot 14-for-29 from the field and were led by Fielder, who tallied 16 points in the opening half. Seven different Broncos cracked the scoring column, aiding the team to a 47-32 advantage at the intermission.

To start the second frame, Idaho tallied 11 of the period's first 13 points. They trimmed what was once an 18-point deficit down to six with 16:07 on the game clock.

Though the Vandals significantly cut into Boise State's lead, that's as close as they would get. Boise State led for the vast majority of the game, holding an advantage for over 34 minutes.

As a team, Boise State shot 48 percent (26-for-54) and poured in 11-of-22 three-point attempts. Every Bronco who appeared in the game totaled at least two points as the team scored 89 in a six-point victory.

Making his first appearance in Broncos uniform, Drew Fielder paced all players with 24 points (7-for-11 FGs) while logging 23 minutes on the floor.

Andrew Meadow had 14 points, while reigning Mountain West Sixth Man of the Year Javan Buchanan contributed with 13 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Freshman point guard Aginaldo Neto started the game for the Broncos and had nine points and three assists in his first collegiate action.

Dominic Parolin, who missed the 2024-25 campaign due to injury, played 17 points and recorded seven points and five boards.
