Broncos Drop Second-Straight Game

11/25/2025 4:39:00 PM | Men's Basketball

LAHAINA, Hawaii — Shooting just over 33 percent from the floor as a team, Boise State fell, 81-70, to NC State on Tuesday afternoon at the Southwest Maui Invitational.

The Broncos (4-3), who had three players score in double figures, were led by Dylan Andrews who poured in a game-high 26 points. He made eight field goals, including five three-pointers in the game.

For the second-consecutive game, Pearson Carmichael tallied double figures, posting 11 points off the bench. Javan Buchanan added 10 points and grabbed a season-high-tying nine rebounds.

All nine players who saw action for the Wolfpack (5-1) cracked the scoring column. Darrion Williams notched a team-high 16 points, while Ven-Allen Lubin and Terrance Arceneaux each totaled 11 points apiece.

NC State began Tuesday's game by making their first five shots from the floor. The Wolfpack scored 11 of the opening 13 points in the contest.

Boise State, however, responded and rattled off five straight points to trim its deficit to four upon reaching the first media timeout. The Broncos made it a one-point game before NC State poured in three-consecutive long balls in less than a minute to push their advantage to double figures.

Not going away quietly in the first half, Boise State scored five quick points of their own. Spanning five-plus game minutes, the Broncos scored 12 unanswered points and grabbed a 22-20 lead, their first of the game.

In the period, Boise State led by as many as four, but NC State closed the half strong. The Wolfpack tallied 12 of the final 14 points before the intermission.

The Broncos shot just 33 percent in the 20-minute session and committed 11 turnovers. Conversely, NC State totaled 16 points off Boise State's giveaways, aiding them to a 34-26 lead at halftime.

At the outset of the second half, Andrews sparked the Broncos' offense. He scored the team's first five points, slicing a six-point deficit to one.

Moments later, Boise State completely erased the Wolfpack's lead. RJ Keene poured in back-to-back three pointers, putting the Broncos in front by three and forcing a prompt timeout by NC State.

Following the Broncos' run, NC State recaptured the lead shortly thereafter. The Wolfpack pushed their advantage out to 12 with an extended 26-11 spurt.

Down the stretch, Boise State cooled off offensively. The team went over six minutes without a field goal in the middle-to-late stages of the second half.

NC State scored 47 points and shot 50 percent in the final 20 minutes and defeated the Broncos for the second time in program history.
