
Boise State Set for Mountain West Championships

- THE MEET: No. 29 Boise State will compete in the 2025 Mountain West Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, March 24 at 3 p.m. MT. The Broncos will take on Air Force, San Jose State and Utah State in San Jose, Calif.
- SCOUTING THE FALCONS: Air Force enters the meet with a 5-8 record. The Broncos have defeated the Falcons in both competitions this year with a 195.975-194.775 win on Feb. 9 and a 195.800-194.500 victory on Feb. 28. Boise State looks to continue its nine-meet win streak over Air Force as it leads the overall series 9-1.
- SCOUTING THE SPARTANS: San Jose State is 7-13-1 on the season. The Spartans tied with the Broncos 195.625-195.625 at the Wasatch Classic (Jan. 20) and lost the following two times, 195.575-194.500 (Jan. 26) and 196.425-194.300. Boise State leads the all-time series 40-6-2.
- SCOUTING THE AGGIES: Utah State was the runner-up in the MW regular season championship, boasting a 6-10 overall record and 3-3 in conference competition. Boise State defeated the Aggies 195.925-195.850 on Jan. 31, but lost the following meet 196.300-195.900 on Feb. 21. Utah State leads the MW on vault with an NQS of 48.895. The all-time series between the two teams is tied, 59-59-1.
- IN THE RANKINGS: Boise State is No. 29 in the RoadToNationals team rankings with an NQS of 196.105, improving its previous score. The Broncos are No. 19 in the bars rankings, boasting a 49.200 NQS score, the highest of any non-power 4 opponent. The team is also in the beam rankings at No. 27 with an NQS score of 49.090, also the highest of any non-power 4 opponent.
- REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS: The Broncos earned the Mountain West regular season championship after defeating Air Force on Feb. 28. Boise State rounded out conference competition with a 5-1 record.
- HOME SWEET HOME: Boise State is the only team in the Mountain West undefeated at home. The Broncos boast a 5-0 home record on the season, marking their first undefeated home record since 2021.
- BARS QUEEN: Emily Lopez is tied for 18th nationally in the RoadToNationals individual rankings with an NQS score of 9.910. She ranks first in the Mountain West and sixth in the west region.
- ALL-MW: Six Broncos accounted for nine All-MW honors. Lopez earned first team on bars and beam, as well as second team on vault. Alyssa Vulaj picked up first team on vault and second team on beam. Emma Loyim and Blake Pascal both received first team on floor. Kristina Shchennikova and Bridget Kemp both garnered second team on bars and floor, respectively.
- EVENT CHAMPIONS: Against No. 22 Southern Utah on March 14, Boise State earned three event titles. Lopez earned bars champion, Shchennikova was named beam champion while Julia Melchert earned her first floor title.
- SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK: Boise State picked up five MW Specialist of the Week honors. Lopez was named Co-Vault and Bars Specialist of the Week, Shchennikova garnered Co-Beam and Freshman of the Week and Melchert notched Floor Specialist of the Week.
- RECORD WATCH: Lopez earned her 19th-career bars win against No. 22 Southern Utah (March 14), putting her in sole possession of third all-time for bars victories in program history. She now sits behind Emily Mulenhaupt (2018-22) in first with 22 wins and Lindsay Ward (2004-08) in second with 20.
- PRESEASON EXPECTATIONS: Boise State came in at No. 33 in the 2025 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Preseason Poll, the 14th time since 2010 that the Broncos have earned a preseason national ranking. The Blue and Orange received 341 points and were the only team in the Mountain West to place in the top 36.
