Pasco, Thompson Lift Broncos Past Aggies

BOISE, Idaho – Natalie Pasco and Tatum Thompson combined for 34 points in the second half to lead Boise State women's basketball past Utah State, 72-59, in the regular season finale on Tuesday.
With the Broncos (17-14, 7-11 Mountain West) leading the Aggies (4-26, 3-15 MW) by three entering the final frame, Pasco drained three 3-pointers and Thompson added nine points to lead the Blue and Orange to a 26-16 advantage over the final ten minutes of action.Â
The duo combined to score 46 in the regular season finale for the Broncos. Pasco totaled 25 points, draining four 3-pointers and shooting 9-of-18 from the floor, while Thompson added 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists. The game marked the fifth time a Bronco duo has each scored 20+ points on the season, the most in program history.Â
Boise State struggled to take care of the rock early, committing four turnovers and trailed 9-4 at the first media break. Thompson came off the bench and added back-to-back baskets to cut the lead to three as Boise State trailed 11-8 at the first quarter break.
Utah State came out in the second period on fire, grabbing an 18-10 advantage early in the second period. The Broncos answered the call, locking in defensively and ending the period on a 16-2 run to take a 26-22 lead into the halftime break.
The second half became the Pasco and Thompson show. After the Aggies tied the game at 27 a minute into the second half, the duo went to work, scoring six points each as the Broncos led 39-37 at the media timeout. The Blue and Orange shot 47.1% from the floor in the quarter and held a 46-43 lead at the break. Â
Pasco opened the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer, freeing up Thompson to score five-straight points to give Boise State a 56-51 lead midway through the stanza. Pasco broke the game open with back-to-back 3-pointers with 3:38 left on the clock to give the Broncos a double-digit lead, allowing the team to cruise to victory.
