Broncos Outhit Cardinal in Loss

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State lost 10-5 to No. 15 Stanford in nonconference softball, Saturday.
 
The Broncos (28-14) outhit the Cardinal 10-8, but never led for the second-straight game.
 
Stanford (28-8) scored three times in the first without hitting a ball out of the infield. Leah McAnally got two back in the bottom of the first with a two-out double.
 
The Cardinal led 7-2 before Makenzie Butt led off the fifth with her 18th home run of the season.
 
Stanford put the game out of reach with a three-run sixth.
 
The teams meet again, Sunday at noon.
 
NOTES
  • Makenzie Butt hit her 18th home run to tie Sydney Groves and Mykenzie Hanna, both in 2024, for second on Boise State's single-season list.
  • Butt moved into a tie for 10th in school single-season history with 109 total bases.
  • Hanna scored her school-record 55th run of the season.
  • Hanna walked twice to move into fourth place all-time at Boise State with 76 and a tie for sixth on the single-season list with 29.
  • Hanna was hit by a pitch for the 29th time to increase her school-record number.
  • Sophia Knight recorded her 30th multi-hit game of the season, a Boise State record.
  • Knight has 85 hits this year to tie her own mark from 2024 for second on the Broncos' single-season list and tie fourth in Mountain West single-season history.
