Boise State to Compete in Consolation Final on Friday

NEW ORLEANS – Boise State beach volleyball fell in a highly competitive contest, dropping the winners' bracket final 3-2 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday.

With the dual tied 2-2, the outcome came down to the No. 2 court, with the Islanders staving off multiple match points to prevail 16-21, 21-17, 25-23 to claim the victory.

With the loss, the Broncos will face the winner of No. 3 San Jose State and No. 4 Stephen F. Austin in the consolation final on Friday. The winner of the consolation final, which will occur at 10:15 a.m. MT, will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the championship dual at 1 p.m. MT.

Avery Allen and Abbie Wolf started the match by continuing their dominance from Wednesday, defeating the Islanders' No. 3 pair of Elizabeth Cortez and Kela Moreno 21-16, 21-13 to put Boise State on the board first. Minutes later, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi evened the score with a straight-set win from the top court.

The Islanders added to their advantage, taking a 2-1 lead following a straight-set victory from court four. Charlee Ellena and Lily Patock knotted the score for the Broncos, tying the dual at two with a straight-set win from the No. 5 position.

The dual's outcome was sent to the No. 2 court. Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden took the first set, 21-16, but Kristin Bobay and Millie Olsson claimed the second, 21-17, to send the match to a third set. The two sides battled fiercely, with both sides failing to convert multiple match-point chances before the Islanders eventually prevailed, 25-23.

Boise State moves to the consolation final at 10:15 a.m. MT on Friday, April 25, and will face off against the winner of No. 3 San Jose State and No. 4 Stephen F. Austin. The winner of the consolation final will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christ for the SLC Championship crown at 1 p.m. MT. All three duals will be streamed on ESPN+.
