
Broncos Split Double Dip

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Boise State and New Mexico split a Mountain West softball doubleheader, Sunday.

The Broncos (28-12, 7-6 MW) dropped the opener 2-1 and took game two 6-3.

Boise State trailed 2-0 after an inning in the nightcap before rallying for its 13th come-from-behind win of the season.
Â
In the second, a New Mexico (18-19-1, 3-7) error allowed a run to cut the Broncos' deficit in half.
Â
In the third, Sophia Knight tripled home a run and scored on a sacrifice fly by Leah McAnally for a 3-2 lead. Mykenzie Hanna increased the advantage to 6-2 with a three-run home run in the fourth.

Brook Thompson (8-3) worked 2 1/3 innings of relief for the victory and Shannon Keighran pitched three-shutout innings for her first-career save.

In the opener, the Broncos outhit the Lobos 7-5, but left nine runners on base.

Boise State's lone run came on Makenzie Butt's solo home run in the sixth. The blast se the school freshman record for home runs at 17.

New Mexico produced single tallies in the first and third against Abby Dowell (9-5).

The Broncos return home to face Stanford, April 11-13.
