BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State softball program added Mariah Lopez and Tegan Cortelletti as assistant coaches, Monday as announced by head coach Justin Shults.
Lopez comes to Boise State from Cal Baptist, and will serve as the Bronco pitching coach. She was a graduate assistant at Minnesota (2022) and Oregon (2023-24) before her full-time position at CBU.
As a collegiate pitcher, Lopez was 51-2 in three years at Oklahoma (2017-19) and 20-5 in two seasons at Arizona (2020-21). She was the winning pitcher for the Sooners in the 2017 Women's College World Series when they defeated Florida to capture the national championship.
"Mariah has played for some great pitching coaches in Melyssa Lombardi (Oklahoma), Jennifer Rocha (Oklahoma) and Taryne Mowatt-McKinney (Arizona)," Shults said. "She also worked under coach Lombardi at Oregon and is prepared to elevate our program."
Cortelletti played five seasons as an outfielder at Ohio State (2019-23). As a fifth-year student-athlete, she led the Buckeyes with a .394 batting average. In her career, she appeared in 180 games and posted a .451 on-base percentage.
She began her coaching career at Bowling Green and spent the 2025 season with the Falcons. At Boise State, Cortelletti will work with the outfielders and coach slapping.
"I recruited Tegan when I was at Miami (Ohio) and have followed her career," Shults said. "She is a great fit for our program and am excited to have her on our staff."
