Broncos Open Season at Three Tournaments, Including the Dar Walters Classic in Boise

The Boise State men's tennis team opens the 2025 fall season this week, with the Broncos being sent to three different events. The first is the annual Dar Walters Classic being held in Boise at the Appleton Tennis Center on campus, Julia Davis Park and Fort Boise (Friday only).Â
The other two are prestigious, invite-only tournaments featuring some of the top players in the country. They are the Battle in the Bay at San Francisco and the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic at Montgomery, Alabama.

The Dar Walters Classic
- Location: Boise, Idaho
- Facility(s): Appleton Tennis Center, Julia Davis Park and Fort Boise (Friday only)
- Dates: Sept. 12-14
- Format: Mini Dual. Competitors will compete with one teammate in the pairs tournament, where they will face another two-person team in doubles and two singles matches; the winners of two of the three points advance as a team in the bracket.
- Brackets: Two 16-team/pair brackets; the Blue and the Orange.
- Representing Boise State: Team 1 will be Carson Baker and Lukas Velik, Team 2 will feature Adam Duda and Michael Seversen.
- First Match for the Broncos (Friday):
- Baker and Velik will play at 8:30 a.m. at the Appleton Tennis Center versus a team from BYU.
- Duda and Seversen will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Julia Davis Park versus a mixed team from Idaho and Idaho State.
- The Field: Schools competing at Boise State this weekend include BYU, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, Portland, Utah State and Weber State.
- Admission: All Boise State tennis matches are free to attend.
- Parking: Parking at Boise State will be in the west stadium parking lot between Albertsons Stadium and ExtraMile Arena. Use the Kiosks and pick the men's tennis option.
The Battle in the Bay
- Location: San Francisco, California
- Facility(s): California Tennis Club
- Dates: Sept. 12-14
- Format: Normal fall format featuring one singles draw of 64 and one doubles draw of 32.
- Representing Boise State: Avery Tallakson and Filip Soderqvist.
- The Field: Schools competing are Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan State, Pepperdine, San Diego, Santa Clara, Stanford, TCU, Texas and UC Santa Barbara.
- Follow: Battle in the Bay
The Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic
- Location: Montgomery, Alabama
- Facility(s): Lagoon Park
- Dates: Sept. 12-14
- Format: Mini Dual. Competitors will compete with one teammate in the pairs tournament, where they will face another two-person team in doubles and two singles matches; the winners of two of the three points advance as a team in the bracket.
- Representing Boise State: Team 1 will be Julius Seifert and Taiyo Kurata, Team 2 will feature Idriss Haddouch and Stewart Aronson.
- The Field: Schools competing are Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, North Alabama, Rice and Tulane.
