Broncos Rally Past GCU in MW Opener

PHOENIX – Boise State volleyball used a balanced offense with four Broncos reaching double-digit kills as they battled back from a set down to defeat Grand Canyon 3-1 (23-25, 29-27, 25-17, 25-15) in the Mountain West opener for both teams. The victory in Phoenix improved Boise State's overall record to a league-best 9-3 and its conference record to 1-0. GCU moved to 8-4 and 0-1.

The first two sets were battles that saw the Broncos rally from big deficits to earn a split. Set one, Boise State rallied from seven down, 15-8, to go up 22-20, only to see GCU regroup with a 5-1 run to take it 25-23.

In set two, Boise State rallied from nine down at 18-9 with an 11-2 run to tie the score at 20, then fought off two Grand Canyon set points down the stretch to win it in extra points, 29-27.
