Boise State Drops to Princeton

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's tennis lost to Princeton 5-2, Saturday afternoon.
 
Princeton (1-0) jumped out to an early lead against Boise State (0-1) by securing the doubles point. Aleksandar Mitric and Sebastian Sec won first on court three with a 6-2 victory over Stewart Aronson and Filip Soderqvist. Shortly after, 13th-nationally ranked duo Landon Ardila and Paul Inchauspe defeated Carson Baker and Taiyo Kurata 6-3 on court one, giving the Tigers an 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.
 
Kurata tied the match 1-1 after a dominant victory over Ellis Short 6-3, 6-0 on court five. Aronson finished on court four not too long after, giving the Broncos a 2-1 lead. The junior defeated No. 99 Sebastian Sec in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-0.
 
Tying the match once again, No. 11 Paul Inchauspe narrowly beat Soderqvist, 6-4, 7-5. Court six finished next as Milan Markovits took a 7-3, 7-6(3) victory over Julius Seifert. Ardila defeated Avery Tallakson in straight-tiebreaker sets 7-6(6), 7-6(2), to clinch the team victory for Princeton. Top Nidunjianzan won in the two spot over Baker 7-5, 4-6, 6-1, as the Tigers won 5-2.

  • Stewart Aronson and Filip Soderqvist both made their debut for the Blue and Orange.
  • Aronson picked up his first Boise State duals win over 99th-nationally ranked Sebastian Sec.

What's Next
  • Boise State will head to Fort Worth, Texas, to compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Broncos will face Georgia on Jan. 24. With a win, the Blue and Orange will take on the winner of TCU and Tulsa on Jan. 25.
