Boise State to Square Off Against No. 22 Washington

WHAT'S NEXT: The Boise State women's tennis team will travel to Seattle, Washington to face No. 22 Washington on Sunday, Jan. 25.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES: Washington enters the match 1-0 after a 5-2 victory over Hawaii in its season opener. The Huskies reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2025 and hold a 10-2 record against Boise State. The Broncos last faced Washington in 2024, falling 6-1.
IN THE RANKINGS: Washington features two singles players ranked in the top 70, along with a doubles team ranked No. 67.
LAST TIME OUT: Boise State opened its 2026 spring campaign with a 5-2 win over Idaho State on Jan. 18. Stella Beldiman, Carla Grignac, Allison Isaacs, Tereza Polakova and Masa Viriant recorded singles victories.

IN THE RECORD BOOK: Zdena Safarova sits tied for the sixth-most career No. 1 singles wins (21). Gaye McManus holds the program record with 50 wins at the top singles spot from 1994-98.
ALL-MW RETURNERS: In 2025, Safarova earned All-Mountain West honors in singles and doubles and was named MW Tournament MVP and MW All-Tournament No. 1 Singles. Paula Schaefer earned All-Tournament No. 4 Singles honors, while Masa Viriant was named All-Tournament No. 6 Singles.
THE ROSTER: Boise State's 2026 roster features six returners: Ryan Kershner (senior), Lorelyz Marruffo (redshirt senior), Ella Piron (junior), Safarova (junior), Schaefer (sophomore) and Viriant (sophomore); two transfers: Isaacs (senior) and Polakova (junior); and two freshmen: Beldiman and Grignac.
UPDATED STAFF: Shah, who graduated in 2025, returns to the program as an assistant coach, while Shauna Heffernan will continue as an assistant, assuming duties previously held by former assistant Errol Smith.
