LOS ANGELES – Boise State was held to two hits in a 3-0 loss at Loyola Marymount in the 2026 softball season opener for both schools, Thursday.
Â
All three of the Lions came in the fifth inning. Prior to that, Boise State starter Julianne Rose (0-1) was brilliant, recording eight ground ball outs and allowing only one ball out of the infield through four innings.
Â
She was replaced by Loula-Rae McNamara after giving up back-to-back singles to begin the fifth. A wild pitch advanced both runners. A double, single and throwing error accounted for the three runs.
Â
Lindsay O'Dell went the distance for the Lions, striking out eight. The Broncos did not have a baserunner through three innings. Kate Penberthy led off the fourth with a single. Quinn Southerland singled with two outs, but Boise State stranded both runners.
Â
In the seventh, Mya Flindt was hit by a pitch and Southerland walked to bring the tying run to the plate. O'Dell induced a ground ball double play off the bat of Hollie Farmer and struck out Skylar Stroh to end the game.
