Broncos Knock Off Wildcats, Downed by Tommies

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State defeated Weber State 9-5 before losing to St. Thomas 4-1 in the Blue Collar Classic, Saturday.
 
Against the Wildcats (4-20), the Broncos (11-15) collected a dozen hits, including two each by Quinn Southerland, Skylar Stroh, Mya Flindt and Kate Penberthy.
 
Stroh staked Boise State to a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the first. Hollie Farmer doubled home a run in the second and an RBI-ground out by Southerland extended the lead to 3-0.
 
Flindt blasted her team-leading sixth home run in the third and Penberthy's two-run home run later in the inning pushed the advantage to 6-1.
 
The run support was more than enough for freshman Loula-Rae McNamara (4-1) who struck out a season/career-high five.
 
Against St. Thomas (18-6), Chloe Hughes drove in Boise State's lone run with an RBI-single in the second.
