BOISE, Idaho – Ben Cook will join the Boise State men's tennis program as an assistant coach, head coach Luke Shields announced on Friday.

"The first thing we looked for in this role was a servant leader," head coach Luke Shields said. "He serves not only his student-athletes but also the whole tennis community. We are excited to add Ben to our staff and believe he will add strong value to the tennis community here."

Cook has been coaching for 12 years, with seven of those years being in collegiate tennis. He most recently served as the men's and women's tennis head coach for Emmanuel. While coaching the Lions, he led the men's tennis program to a national ranking of No. 30 and one of the doubles teams ranked as high as No. 41.

Prior to his Emmanuel tenure, Cook was an assistant coach at UC Irvine from 2022 to 2023. He helped guide the program to their first winning record since 2019.

In 2022, Ben stepped in as the interim head coach for the women's tennis program at Caltech where he assisted the team to a No. 19 national ranking to finish out their season.

Prior to joining Caltech, Cook worked with the Mater Dei high school program as an assistant tennis coach where they won back-to-back Trinity League titles.

Additionally, Cook was an assistant women's tennis coach at Fresno Pacific from 2018-2019 where he assisted the program in accomplishing an undefeated record at home.

He also served as an assistant camp director at the Wilson Collegiate tennis camps at USC for the past 12 years.

"I want to first thank Coach Luke Shields and Coach Daniel Hangstefer for the opportunity to work with them and the Boise State men's tennis team this year," assistant coach Ben Cook said. "Having an opportunity like this means a lot to me coming from a small town where tennis wasn't very prominent. I couldn't be more excited to work with them and this team as we all work hard together to achieve the goals we have set out!"
