Fran Strub joined the Broncos on July 9, 2021 as a member of head coach Justin Shults’ inaugural staff. She primarily works with Boise State’s defense, assisting with the hitters.
In her first season, Strub’s defensive coaching efforts contributed to the Broncos setting a school record for fielding percentage (.983), ranking first nationally. The Broncos also tied the record for fewest errors committed (24).
Strub’s contributions to Boise State’s offense led to national rankings in scoring (fifth), double play per game (10th), on-base percentage (11th), slugging percentage (12th), batting average (15th) and home runs per game (15th).
In 2023, Strub helped guide the Broncos to a conference regular-season title and breaking program records in home runs (81), on-base percentage (.418), and slugging percentage (.567).
Boise State’s offense ended the season nationally-ranked third in home runs per game (1.65), fourth in scoring (6.86) and fifth in on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
In, 2024, Sophia Knight led NCAA freshmen and finished fifth nationally with a 85 hits while Sydney Groves and Mykenzie Hanna tied for the Mountain West lead and 23rd nationally with 18 home runs.
Knight, an outfielder, became the second All-American in school history and the first Bronco to be named Freshman All-American.
