Liz Ruiz joined Boise State as an assistant coach in 2020. Ruiz, who spent time with Bronco soccer as a player from 2008-11, is in charge of the goalkeeping coach responsibilities.

Ruiz played primarily as a goalkeeper, she currently holds the program record for saves in a season at 118, set in 2010, and has the second most in a career at 306. She stands second in Boise State history with 17 shutouts and was named to the 2009 WAC All-Conference Team. In addition, she earned defensive player of the year accolades three times, and was awarded academic all-conference honors all four years.

During her summers in college, Ruiz served as the starting goalkeeper and team captain for the Boise Blitz in the summer of 2009. She played for the Colorado Force W-League in summer 2010, served as the starting goalkeeper and team captain of the Seattle Sounders W-League team in summer 2011.

Following her graduation from Boise State, Ruiz attended Hastings College and received her Masters in Education with an Emphasis in Secondary Science, Physical Education, and Health. She also served as an assistant and goalkeeping coach for the women’s soccer program.

Most recently, Ruiz served as an assistant and goalkeeping coach for both the men and women’s soccer program at the College of Idaho.
