Max Weber joined Boise State soccer as an assistant coach in 2018 and was elevated to associate head coach in 2020.
In his second season with the Broncos, Weber helped coach the 2019 squad to a 18-5-0 record. Behind standout Raimee Sherle, the team went on to win the 2019 Mountain West Championship for the first time in program history. That season, Sherle earned United Soccer Coaches Second-Team All-America honors for the second straight year. Weber helped Boise State earn a program-record four all-region players.
He made an immediate impact on the Broncos in his first year with the staff, focusing heavily on recruiting while assisting in all other aspects of the program. The Broncos finished 2018 with a record of 13-4-3, securing the first Mountain West regular season title in program history and the No. 1 seed a the conference tournament. The No. 1 seed in 2018 led to the Broncos hosting the 2019 Mountain West Tournament – the first time a conference tournament took place in Boise in program history.
Weber helped Boise State earn a program-record six all-conference honorees. The top player for the Broncos in Weber’s first year was Sherle, who was not only named the USCA Second-Team All-America, but was also named the 2018 Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and led NCAA Division I in goals with 20. Her All-America honors made her the first All-America recipient in program history.
Weber came to the Broncos with over a decade of college coaching experience, having spent the previous four seasons as an assistant at Eastern Washington.
The 2016 and 2017 campaigns were banner seasons for the Eagles, as Weber helped EWU to a combined record of 29-11-5 while winning the 2016 Big Sky Regular Season Championship along with back-to-back Big Sky Tournament Championships, resulting in two trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Weber was key in the recruitment and development of EWU’s first four-time Big Sky First-Team selection in Chloe Williams, who was also named the Big Sky Offensive MVP in each of her last three seasons. The quality of player that Weber helped bring in at EWU was evident, as last season there were four Eagles earning First-Team All-Big Sky honors while two others earned Big Sky Honorable Mention nods.
Prior to coaching at EWU, Weber was an assistant at Walla Walla Community College where he helped the Warriors to four NWAACC championships and a combined 10 East Region titles with the men's and women's soccer programs.
Weber’s playing career started at Walla Walla CC and finished at Whitman College where he was a team captain at both stops. He started both seasons at WWCC and led the team to second-place finish in the 2005 NWAACC Championship. At Whitman, he received the R.V. Borleske Trophy, given annually to the school’s top male athlete.
He was born and raised in Montana, graduating in 2003 from Great Falls High School where he was team captain, an all-state selection, and a two-time all-conference honoree.
Max lives in Boise with his wife, Alysse, their son, Bode, and daughter, Marlee.
