BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State wrestling team fell to No. 20 Oregon State 31-3 at Bronco Gym, Saturday. Freshman Geordan Martinez, ranked 17th nationally at 141 pounds, notched the only win of the evening for the Broncos (1-2).

Martinez, who entered the rankings this week for the first time this season, earned a 7-4 decision over Devin Reynolds.

"We're right there with Oregon State, but they had the mental edge tonight," head coach Greg Randall said. "The score looks like we got dominated, but until we learn to win the close ones, these guys are going to be so-so wrestlers. They need to figure out, `This is how I win,' not `This is how I lose.'"

Oregon State (3-0) earned bonus points in just one match - a major decision at 125 pounds - and also received six points due to a forfeit at 133 pounds. The eight remaining matches were all won via decision, including six decided by three-or-fewer points.

Oregon State opened the dual with a 16-0 lead before Martinez earned his decision. He is now 14-4 overall in his debut season with the Broncos, including a 3-0 mark in dual competition.

The Beavers retained possession of the Border Axe with tonight's victory, but Boise State will get another chance to reclaim the rivalry trophy later this season. The two teams will meet in Corvallis, Ore., Feb. 8.
