Graves Paces Women to Victory in Lewiston

Women's team notches second perfect score of the season against Division I opponents

LEWISTON, Idaho -- Claire Graves paced six women to top 10 finishes, Saturday at the Inland Empire Championships, as Boise State easily walked away with the team title. Graves, competing in only her third collegiate cross country race, ran 17:16 in the 5-kilometer race, while teammate Jordan Jacob was second in 17:22.
 
A runner from Central Washington split up Boise State's sweep, but the Broncos scored 15 points against Division I teams for their second perfect score of the season. Olivia Johnson (17:34), Karlie Swanson (17:38) and Malia Pivec (17:46) finished in 4-5-6, while freshman Yukino Parle (17:57) snuck her way into the the top 10 with an eighth-place effort. 
 
The women's 15 points easily placed them ahead of second place Calgary (105).
 
On the men's side, Leif Everson posted the best finish of his career, earning runner-up honors. The redshirt freshman ran 24:28, two seconds ahead of teammate Keegan McCormick in third. 
 
Lammi Kalil (24:47), Tom Richardson (24:51) and Ty Jordan (25:29) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos. The men finished third among Division I schools with 69 points, being narrowly edged by Gonzaga (55) and Washington State (68). 

 
Today's meet concludes the regular season for both programs. The Broncos will return to action, Oct. 26, at the 2018 Mountain West Cross Country Championships in San Diego, Calif. Boise State will be able to travel and race nine runners on each side at the conference championships, but only travel eight, race seven for the West Region Championships (Nov. 9) and the national championships (Nov. 17).
