BOISE STATE IN THE CHALLENGE: Boise State is 4-1 all-time in MW/MV Challenge games. Last season the Broncos defeated eventual Final Four participants, Loyola Chicago, by a score of 87-53 (Nov. 28, 2017) at Taco Bell Arena.
Prior to last season's win against the Ramblers, the Broncos fell at Evansville in 2016, 72-67 on Dec. 3, 2016 and defeated Bradley 90-70, on Dec. 20, 2015 the previous year. The Broncos also took down Indiana State 74-65, Dec. 3, 2011, at Taco Bell Arena in their first year as a member of the Mountain West, along with an 83-70 win at then-No. 11 Creighton, Nov. 28, 2012 - the highest-ranked opponent the Broncos have defeated in program history.
ABOUT DRAKE: The Bulldogs are 3-1 so far with wins over Buena Vista, Texas State and UMKC. Their lone loss of the season came at Colorado, falling to the Buffalos, 100-71.
Drake has a well-rounded offense with four players averaging 10 or more points. Nick Norton is the top scorer at 13.8 points per game while Nick McGlynn (11.0 ppg), D.J. Wilkins (10.3 ppg) and Noah Thomas (10.0 ppg).
THE SERIES: The two teams are tied in the all-time series at 1-1. Boise State lost the first game on the road, 72-69, Dec. 12, 2010, but then avenged the loss the next year with a 108-64 victory at Taco Bell Arena, Dec. 30, 2011.
COMMON OPPONENT EAST OF THE ROCKIES: With the game against the Bulldogs, Tuesday, Boise State will have played Drake three times in head coach Leon Rice's nine years at the helm. The three games against the Bulldogs marks the most games against a non-conference opponent located east of the Rocky Mountains in Rice's tenure.
HUGE JUMP FOR ALSTON: Currently averaging 13.4 points per game as Boise State's No. 2 scorer, Derrick Alston is on pace for the largest points per game jump from one season to the next for any returning Boise State player in program history.
SHOOTING A HIGH PERCENTAGE: The Broncos are No. 3 in the Mountain West in field goal percentage, shooting 48.7 percent from the field. Boise State upped its efficiency in the Cayman Islands, shooting 51.6 percent against Creighton (32-of-62) and an incredible 58.1 percent against St. Bonaventure (25-of-43). The Broncos are 60-3 when shooting 50 percent or higher in Rice's tenure.
