Foul Trouble Plagues Broncos in Loss at Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Nick McGlynn scored 23 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked four shots and Drake held off Boise State 83-74 on Tuesday night.
After trailing for all of the second half, Boise State was able to cut the deficit to three points with 3:36 to play, but Drake was able to keep its lead down the stretch to claim the win in the 2018 Mountain West / Missouri Valley Challenge.
The Broncos closed to 73-70 on a Pat Dembley jumper, but Drake hit 8 of 10 from the line in the final 2:28 and the Broncos missed two 3-pointers in the final eight seconds.
Boise State dealt with considerable foul trouble throughout the second half as RJ Williams picked up his fourth foul at the 16:46 mark while Zach Haney picked up his fourth at 12:39.
David Wacker earned his fourth foul with 6:41 to play and eventually fouled out with 2:28 left.
Nick Norton added 16 points with four assists for the Bulldogs (4-1), who made 23 of 28 free throws.
Justinian Jessup was the top scorer for the Broncos with a season-high 21 points. The junior also tallied team highs in minutes (38) and assists (3).
Marcus Dickinson recorded a season-high 14 points in 30 minutes of play. Dembley also reached double-digit points, ending the night with 10. Williams led the way on the boards, pulling in nine rebounds.
David Wacker's dunk tied it at 27 after a back-and-forth start, but Noah Thomas hit a go-ahead free throw and Drake outscored the Broncos 15-3 in the final 5:56 of the first half to lead 42-32 at halftime.
Boise State will now quickly regroup and prepare for another road game at Grand Canyon (4-3), Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. MT.
