LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Broncos played a complete game at 7,220 feet, gradually pulling away from the Cowboys and winning 69-55 Wednesday night in Laramie at the Arena-Auditorium. Alex Hobbs played a well-rounded game with 17 points to go with seven rebounds, six assists and two steals – all of which were team highs.
Justinian Jessup was exceptional, as well, netting 14 points thanks to a 4-of-7 effort from behind the arc. Boise State is now 4-1 this season in games where Jessup knocks down four or more 3-pointers. Derrick Alston also made it into double figures with 10 points.
The Broncos held Wyoming to 35.0 percent shooting from the field (14-of-40) – the second-lowest field goal percentage for a Bronco opponent this season. The main key to the victory was Boise State's defensive effort against the Mountain West's leading scorer, Justin James. James scored a season-low seven points and was 1-of-14 from the field.
The other big factor in the win was the Broncos' ability to take care of the ball, as they committed a season-low six turnovers.
Boise State had the 33-22 lead at the half. The 11-point halftime advantage was the team's largest halftime lead so far this season. The Broncos were bolstered by a couple of runs (8-0 and 10-0) in the first 20 minutes to propel the team to win.
Boise State will now return home to Taco Bell Arena and face San Diego State this Saturday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. The game will broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
