WHAT IS HAPPENING

  • The Boise State diving team wraps up its regular season this weekend when the Broncos travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to compete at the Air Force Diving Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
  • This event will feature only the 3-meter springboard and the platform.
  • This will be only the second time this season that the Broncos have competed on the platform with the other being at the Mizzou Invite in November. 
  • Live Scoring for this meet will be available on DiveMeets.
  • This is a diving only competition. The Boise State swimmers wrapped up their regular season last weekend at home with the two dual meet victories against Northern Arizona.

MEET FIELD AND FORMAT

  • This year's Air Force Diving Invitational will feature 10 schools including: Air Force, Boise State, BYU, Cal Baptist, Colorado Mesa, Colorado State, Denver, New Mexico State, Utah, and Wyoming.  
  • Both diving competitions (3-meter springboard and platform) will feature a preliminary round followed by the finals.

UP NEXT

  • The Boise State swimming and diving team will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., Feb. 20-23 where they will defend their back-to-back Mountain West Conference Championships from 2017 and 2018.  
  • This year's championships meet will be held at the University of Minnesota's Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.

LAST TIME OUT, BRONCOS SWEEP NAU

  • BOISE, Idaho (Jan. 25-26) - Boise State swimming and diving swept a pair of dual meets at home Jan. 25-26 against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks to extend the Broncos' home win streak to 26 straight. 
  • The divers helped Boise State to a 126-74 victory over NAU last Friday when the Broncos took three of the top four places on the 3-meter springboard ... freshman Marti Erlam recorded a 316.73 to win the event with her second-best score of the year and ranks as the 10th-best mark all-time in program history ... Cassidy Bose turned in a 290.40 — her second-best career score — to take second ... Tatum Thompkins followed in fourth place with a career-best 267.08 ... both Erlam's and Bose's scores were NCAA Zone Qualifying Scores.
  • In the 143-78 win on Saturday (Feb. 26) Erlam placed third overall on the 1-meter springboard with a 285.68 ... Bose was fourth with a 264.15, her top score of year ... Thompkins tuned in a career-high 249.23 for fifth place.

BRANDON BLAISDELL

  • Brandon Blaisdell is in his fourth year as the head diving coach at Boise State.
  • At Boise State he has been apart of two Mountain West Championship coaching staffs and has coached the Broncos only diver in program history to qualify for the NCAA National Championships, Cassidy Bose on the platform in 2017.
  • Four of his divers have combined for six All-MW honors in three years.

THE MABILE ERA BEGINS

  • Christine Mabile returned to her alma mater over the summer and became the third head coach in the program's history, which is entering its 13th season in 2018-19.
  • Mabile is a 2010 alum of Boise State.
  • She did not swim for the Broncos as an undergraduate, instead she spent the four years as a volunteer assistant coach working with the team from the deck.  
  • Mabile returned to Boise State after two years as an assistant at Missouri, preceded by five years as head coach at the College of Idaho.
  • Joining Mabile on her first coaching staff are Jordan Lieberman who was an assistant at Cornell, as well as Brandon Blaisdell who returns for his fourth season as the Bronco diving coach. 

CHAMPIONSHIP TRADITION

  • Boise State's swimming and diving program has built a championship tradition in its 12-year existence. 
  • Since its founding for the 2006-07 school year the Broncos have won six conference championships, including back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018. 
  • The first two titles came in 2010 and 2011 as members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
  • Boise State's longest streak of consecutive conference championships has been three, capped off by the 2012 Mountain West title in the Broncos first year of membership.
  • Since joining the MW for the 2011-12 campaign, Boise State has won four of seven titles bringing home the hardware in 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2018.  
  • In all, the Broncos have won a conference championship six times in the last nine years. 

WIN STREAK

  • Boise State has not lost a home dual in 10 years dating back to Feb. 7, 2009 when they lost at the hands of Oregon State in the program's third season.
  • The Broncos two victories over Northern Arizona Jan. 25-26 extended their home win streak in team duals to 26 straight, 3-0 in 2018-19 and 2-0 in the 2017-18 season.
