Three Broncos Advance to Third Round at ITA Mountain Regional

DENVER - Boise State opens ITA Mountain Region Championships with strong showing in singles going 4-3. Three Boise State team members Wyatt DeMulling, Kyryll Kryvchun and Blake Bayldon advanced into the round of 32 on Thursday. Four of the six Broncos competing at the regional received first round byes in singles with high seeds.

The day began with the round of 128 where the Broncos had two competing in the round. The Boise State duo split with Blake Bayldon opening with a straight-set victory 6-3, 6-2 over Idaho's Bruno Casino to advance. Meanwhile, Kemal Karagozoglu fell in his opener 6-3, 6-4.

DeMulling — who is seeded 15th — won his lone singles match of the day in the round of 64 defeating New Mexico State's Martin Simecek 6-4, 6-4. Joining him on the winning side was sixth-seeded Kryvchun who rolled past his opponent Ignatius Castelino of Denver 6-1, 6-3.

Bayldon was the only Bronco who played two singles matches on Wednesday. After winning his opening match earlier, he was as dominant in the round of 64 with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Weber State's Arthur Serafim.

Also in the round of 64, sophomore Simon Arca Costas came out on the short end of a 7-6(3), 6-4 score to New Mexico State's Louis Menard. Ryland McDermott also fell in the round by a 6-2, 6-2 score to Air Force's Mack Galvin. Both Arca Costas and McDermott, as well as Karagozoglu will move into the consolation draw on Thursday.

Things did not go as well in doubles as both of Boise State's pairs who competed on Wednesday fell by 8-5 scores. The Broncos' tandem of Kryvchun and Bayldon received a bye today after being seeded seventh, they will open competition on Thursday.
